Role can be based at either the Plainville, MA, Greenville, NC, or Toronto (Mississauga), Canada site. As a Senior Manager, Reliability Engineering at Thermo Fisher Scientific within PSG Global Engineering Services, you will lead the development and deployment of a standardized reliability engineering program across a global network of manufacturing sites.

This leadership role focuses on improving asset performance, enhancing equipment reliability, and ensuring consistency in maintenance and asset management practices across PSG. You will provide technical leadership and guidance to site Reliability Engineers, ensuring alignment to a common reliability framework that drives uptime, reduces lifecycle cost, and minimizes operational risk. In addition, you will support and guide site maintenance master planning efforts, ensuring alignment between long-term asset strategies, maintenance programs, and capital planning.
A Day in the Life:
Working in a highly matrixed organization, you will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Sustainability teams to deliver scalable solutions that support both operational excellence and environmental goals.
You will also integrate environmental sustainability into reliability strategies by partnering with site teams to optimize utility systems, reduce energy consumption (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions), and improve performance related to water usage and waste generation.
This role requires strong project management capabilities to plan, coordinate, and ensure the successful and timely deployment of global initiatives.
Your work will directly contribute to advancing reliability performance while supporting our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
Keys to Success:
Education
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree, and advance degree is highly preferred.
Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) or related technical discipline, or Business Administration.
Preferred: Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) – ASQ, Six Sigma or Lean certification.
Experience in regulated industries (pharma, biotech, medical device).
Experience
6-8 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance, or asset management in a manufacturing environment or highly regulatory industry required.
5 years of demonstrated leadership experience, including leading or influencing technical teams in a matrixed organization.
Experience developing and deploying reliability engineering or asset management programs across multiple sites.
Experience supporting site maintenance master planning, including alignment of maintenance strategies with long-term asset lifecycle and capital plans.
Strong project management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with global stakeholders.
Experience driving reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), asset criticality, and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies.
Experience supporting or driving environmental sustainability initiatives, including utility optimization, energy reduction (Scope 1 & 2), and improvements in water and waste management systems.
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (PPI, Lean, Six Sigma).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong business acumen with ability to analyze performance metrics and drive operational improvements
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
Proficiency with business systems (MS Office, CMMS such as Maximo, SAP, Blue Mountain, or similar platforms)
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization across multiple sites and functions
Ability to travel 30–50% globally
Valid passport required for international travel

Compensation
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $130,000.00–$194,950.00.
