Job Summary
We are seeking a Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teacher to create a positive and engaging learning environment where all students can succeed. This role focuses on helping students develop practical life skills and career-ready knowledge in areas such as nutrition, child development, personal finance, and hospitality.
The teacher will plan and deliver instruction, monitor student progress, and support student growth both academically and personally. This position follows all North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and Pitt County Schools (PCS) policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and teach courses in the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum as part of a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program
- Create a supportive classroom and lab environment that promotes student engagement and achievement
- Develop lesson plans that meet diverse student needs and learning styles
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to support improvement
- Teach practical life skills such as financial literacy, health and wellness, family relationships, and career readiness
- Manage classroom and computer lab activities effectively
- Support student participation in CTE student organizations and competitions (local, regional, state, and national)
- Participate in field trips to colleges, workplaces, and hands-on learning experiences
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance business and technology programs
- Build partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to support student learning opportunities

Qualifications
Licensure
- Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina CTE teaching license

- Associate degree
- Postsecondary Culinary Arts Certificate (required for culinary courses only)

- 2 years with a Bachelor's degree
- 4 years with an Associate degree
- 6 years with a Postsecondary Culinary Certificate

Additional Requirement
- For food-related courses: Must obtain an ANSI-CFP Accredited Food Protection Manager Certification before teaching
