Position Overview Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center is seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Radiology Support Specialist to support both clinical MRI operations and diagnostic imaging coordination. This is a dual-function role combining early morning and midday MRI patient preparation support with daily imaging scheduling, coordination, and patient communication responsibilities. You will play a key role in maintaining efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and an excellent patient experience in a fast-paced outpatient orthopaedic environment. Core Responsibilities MRI Clinical Support (Morning & Midday Coverage)
- Assist MRI technologists with patient preparation and screening forms
- Assist with MRI positioning and ensure comfort during MRI workflow
- Provide basic patient education regarding MRI procedures
- Verify patient safety screening, including implant and medical device documentation
Imaging Scheduling & Coordination
- Schedule MRI and other imaging studies for Orthopaedics East patients
- Coordinate scheduling with outside imaging facilities as needed
- Contact patients to schedule, confirm, or reschedule imaging appointments
- Schedule follow-up orthopedic appointments after imaging completion
- Manage incoming phone calls and patient scheduling inquiries
Administrative & Clinical Support Duties
- Create and manage patient visits in ModMed
- Upload Radsource MRI reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Enter imaging charges accurately and maintain documentation integrity
- Fax imaging orders and manage referral paperwork
- Maintain imaging workflow readiness, including supply organization
- Support x-ray department during high-volume periods by assisting with patient flow between exam rooms and imaging areas
- Potentially assist with prior authorization workflows and insurance coordination as trained
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in a medical office, imaging, orthopaedics, or clinical setting preferred
- Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment
- Comfort working with electronic medical records
