Human Resources Generalist
Jack A. Farrior, Inc. is a growing construction company located in eastern North Carolina specializing in agricultural and industrial equipment installation and millwright services.
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for and will manage various human resources processes and programs, which includes, but is not limited to: employee relations, orientations, recruitment coordination, training and development, salary/benefits administration, performance management, discipline/performance improvement, and policy interpretation/application.
The person in this position is required to maintain employee information in the HRIS/benefits systems throughout the employee cycle, ensuring accuracy of information. Originates and leads human resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Advise and assist with interpretation of regulations, industry trends, current practices and applications of policies and procedures, new developments, and applicable laws as it relates to human resources and regulatory compliance reporting.
- Participate in training and development activities relating to employment laws.
- Maintain the company employee handbook.
- Prepare and maintain personnel documentation/files.
- Manage the annual performance review process.
- Coordinate all recruiting/hiring processes, including onboarding and orientation; conduct and/or participate in interviews as required and assist with the management of job specific interview questions.
- Administer, plan, and implement company benefits program, to include the annual enrollment process.
- Assist in organizing and managing wellness events/activities.
- Conduct employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
- Assist management with direct investigations relating to any violations of EEO laws and the resulting response and representation in unemployment, wage/hour, and EEOC hearings.
- Assist management in such matters as workers' compensation, ADA, and FMLA situations.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources are required.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration, effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and excellent customer/employee service skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle difficult situations; demonstrate good judgement in investigating and solving problems.
- Ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
- Perform duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.
- Ability to recognize and perform duties which need to be completed, although not directly assigned, assisting others as needed.
