Position Summary

Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of the office or clinic, and the overall supervision of the Manager of the specific office/clinic with assistance as needed by the Director of Respiratory Care services. The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) provides safe, expedient, cost-effective Respiratory Care services. As a member of a team of health care professionals, an RCP evaluates, treats, and manages patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders in a wide variety of clinical settings. Respiratory Care Practitioners behave in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all health care professionals and the AARC. In addition to performing respiratory care procedures, RCP's MAY BE EXPECTED TO PERFORM VARIOUS PATIENT TESTING (SUCH AS PFT'S, EKG'S, AND OTHER TESTING WITH COMPETENCY) they are involved in clinical decision-making (such as patient assessment, treatment selection and reassessment of treatment efficacy), goal directed respiratory care planning and patient education. RCP's are required to document in the patient medical record factual, accurate, complete, timely, legible and legal information about the care they provide to each patient. Each RCP is responsible for billing the patient correctly for the services provided.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree or higher in an approved CoARC program for Respiratory Care.
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification current
  • Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire and is maintained yearly.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2 years post Grad experience.
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist within 1 year of hire.
    • If working with patients less than 16Y/O must have PALS, and for infants must have NRP within 3 months of hire.
  • Maintain CEU requirements for NC RCP Board each year at renewal.
  • Maintain CEU requirements for the National Board of Respiratory Care RRT and RPFT as required every 5 years.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with PFT Testing
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks (chart checks, patient calls, faxes, etc) in addition to technical/patient testing responsibilities
Pay Range

$30.00 - $43.73
