The Oncology Disease Site Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for a designated oncology disease site program. The role collaborates with physicians, nurses, surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, navigators, and ancillary departments to ensure high-quality patient-centered care throughout the cancer continuum. The coordinator supports multidisciplinary care planning, quality improvement initiatives, accreditation standards, data analysis, and program development.
ResponsibilitiesAttends multidisciplinary cancer conferences.
Collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to standardize evidence-based treatment pathways.
Facilitates communication among multidisciplinary team members.
Coordinates patient care across surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and supportive care.
Assures patient follow up is taking place.
Serves as a primary point of contact for patients and families throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
Ensures timely diagnostic testing, referrals, and treatment planning.
Maintains accurate documentation and supports accreditation standards such as those from cancer program accrediting organizations.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
3 to 5 years of related work experience is required.
Active North Carolina RN License is required.
Familiarity with quality improvement processes, data management, accreditation standards, and performance metrics.
Core professional nursing knowledge and skills; ability to apply knowledge; anticipate, think and respond quickly.
Ability to work as a member of team and promote teamwork with other staff members.
Ability to work with patients in a compassionate, nonjudgmental manner.
