| Job Duties | The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and ECU Health Physicians Academic is seeking a Department Chair of Internal Medicine to ensure the continued excellence of the clinical, educational and academic programs within the department. Reporting to the executive dean of Brody School of Medicine, the chair is responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and oversight of academic, clinical and research programs of the department. This senior leader is responsible for all patient care activities and quality of care for the department. The chair has financial authority over the state appropriated budget assigned to the department, extramural research funding received, practice plan revenues and expenses, philanthropic funding, and other financial matters for the department in accordance with applicable ECU, Brody School of Medicine, and ECU Health Academic Physicians policies and practices. Other duties as assigned by the BSOM and ECU Health senior leadership. Tenure Track (12-month appointment) available at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS. These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS. Contingent on availability of funding. |
