The Internal Medicine Hematology and Oncology Division aims to deliver cutting-edge cancer care through innovative research, educate future oncologists to think beyond guidelines, and serve as a regional beacon of excellence in cancer treatment throughout Eastern North Carolina.

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant within the Hematology/Oncology Clinical Trials Office is to support the successful coordination and conduct of clinical research studies involving patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases. The Clinical Research Assistant reports directly to the Clinical Research Manager within the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The Research Assistant functions as a key support member of the Hematology/Oncology Clinical Trials Office and works collaboratively with clinical research coordinators, investigators, nurses, data personnel, regulatory staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary research team. The position assists with the day-to-day operational activities required to initiate, maintain, and complete clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities Include:
