Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Academic Affairs, led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, comprises the university’s colleges, schools and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU’s culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service and regional transformation.
The mission of the College of Education is to prepare and develop professionals in vocational teacher education and information/office education through effective teaching, the dissemination of knowledge, generation and application of research, and service to the educational business communities. The college is committed to preparing educational and business professionals who are both academically and technically proficient.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Executive Administrative Services, Operations, and Events provides’ senior-level leadership for the College of Education’s Executive Office. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Director leads the executive administrative infrastructure supporting the Dean, Associate Deans, and other senior college leadership.

This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and coordination of executive administrative operations, college-wide event planning, and key operational functions. The Director ensures the effective delivery of high-level administrative support through supervision of executive administrative staff and establishes standards for accuracy, responsiveness, confidentiality, and service excellence.

The College Executive Office serves as the central administrative unit for executive-level coordination. This office manages highly confidential and sensitive matters, including personnel actions, faculty affairs processes, Title IX communications, legal correspondence, tenure and promotion processes, and other matters requiring executive discretion and restricted access.

The Director ensures all outputs and interactions of the Executive Office reflect the highest standards of professionalism and represent the Dean’s Office, the college, and the university.
The position is responsible for oversight of office operations, personnel supervision, service delivery, and an assigned operating budget in collaboration with the College’s Finance Office.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Executive Office Leadership and Management (55%): Leads executive administrative operations, supervising staff, managing workflows, and ensuring efficient, high-quality support for college leadership. Drives process improvements across the Executive Office.
  • Executive Leadership Support Oversight (10%): Oversees executive scheduling, travel, communications, and preparation of leadership materials to support senior leadership priorities and decision-making.
  • Event Management and Strategic Initiatives (20%): Directs planning and execution of major college events, stakeholder engagement activities, and Dean-assigned strategic initiatives through coordinated staff oversight.
  • Academic Personnel and Operations (10%): Oversees faculty personnel processes, study abroad support, facilities and space management, and administrative operations including timekeeping and financial reconciliations.
  • Confidential and Sensitive Operations (5%): Manages confidential personnel, legal, and faculty affairs matters while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and records management requirements.
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including some experience as a lead worker; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in higher education, public administration, nonprofit leadership, business operations, or education environments.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership in a complex organization as well as supervising professional staff.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale events, ceremonies, conferences, or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Experience with faculty affairs processes (searches, tenure, promotion, credentialing) knowledge of university administrative, financial, HR, and facilities systems.
