| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | The mission of the College of Education is to prepare and develop professionals invocational teacher education and information/office education through effective teaching, the dissemination of knowledge, generation and application of research, and service to the educational business communities. The College is committed to the purpose of preparing educational and business professionals who are both academically and technically proficient. The teacher education programs share the additional purposes of preparing professional educators who are reflective in practice, committed to the intellectual empowerment of others, and guided by the larger democratic purposes of American education. East Carolina University’s Principal Fellows Program (ECU PFP) prepares effective principals from eastern North Carolina, for eastern North Carolina, who innovate, revitalize, advocate, and transform education for all students, families, and teachers. The ECU PFP builds upon ECU’s nationally accredited principal preparation program (NPBEA, 2013) as it partners with superintendents and principals across 32 school districts in eastern North Carolina to recruit and identify “proven and experienced” instructional leaders and teacher leaders who have a desire to lead and serve their communities as school principals. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | The College of Education and ECU’s Prinicpal Fellows Program (PFP) is searching for an ECU PFP Induction Coordinator and Coach. The Induction Coordinator and Coach will support ECU Principal Fellows as they transition from their internships to their fulltime assistant principal positions and work with District Leadership Coaches and ECU Leadership Coaches to provide structured supports for new assistant principals to ensure their success now and when they transition to and through the principalship. The induction coordinator and coach will work with school district leaders to build coaching leaders in the district. Designated district leaders will participate in the Becoming a Coaching Leader (BACL) training which will train them to be effective leadership coaches for the PFs in their respective districts. The ECU Induction Coordinator and Coach will work with district partners to help facilitate Onboarding, Induction, and Mentoring activities. Duties include but are not limited to: 80% ECU Principal Fellows Induction and Coaching Support: Responsible for induction coaching and supporting Principal Fellows to ensure their success after they complete the program and transition into assistant principal and principal positions. Will work with school district leaders with district partners to help facilitate Onboarding, Induction, and Mentoring activities. 10% ECU PFP District Partnership Support: Responsible for effective communications with our district partners to ensure strong partnerships. Will also help facilitate MOUs with LEA partners, distribute materials to PFs in the region, and maintain ongoing communication with each LEA Leadership Team via phone, email, virtual meetings, and the ECU PFP website. 10% ECU PFP Team Support: Responsible for sharing regional updates at regular ECU PFP Team meetings. Will participate in action plans to support Principal Fellows and program improvements. Will coordinate with the ECU PFP Team to utilize best practices of induction and coaching and maintain documentation of their induction and coaching practices that will be used to improve the ECU PFP. Contingent upon availability of funds. |
