| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | ECU Libraries is a branch of Academic Affairs and reports through the Provost/ Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. ECU Libraries serves East Carolina University faculty, students, staff and visitors by offering library research and services to support the research, instruction and service goals of the University. ECU Libraries is comprised of Joyner Library on ECU’s main campus, Laupus Library on ECU’s health sciences campus, and the Music Library, located in the Fletcher Music building. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | This position manages the general collection and compact stacks within ALS, supervises student employees, and provides service to patrons at the Circulation & Interlibrary Loan Desk. |
| Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience | High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| License or Certification required by statute or regulation | None |
| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience | Academic library experience; customer service experience; and supervisory experience; especially of college student employees are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to follow established procedures, enforce rules, and perform work requiring considerable detail and accuracy; initiative and ingenuity; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patrons and personnel; ability to work consistently and reliably in an unsupervised capacity; problem-solving skills; and ability to learn complex tasks quickly are preferred. |
