| Organizational Unit Overview | The Department of Chemistry is one of the academic departments within the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, consisting of thirty employees. The main purpose of the department is the education of students in the discipline of chemistry. The Department of Chemistry offers the BS and BA degrees at the undergraduate level and the MS at the graduate level. The BS degree is certified by the American Chemical Society. Additionally, through our participation in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Biology, Biomedicine, and Chemistry, the department offers the Ph.D. with a Chemistry concentration. The Chemistry Department pledges itself to encourage in the broadest and most liberal manner, the advancement of science and particularly chemistry in all of its branches through its education, research, and service missions. |
| Job Duties | This position’s primary duties include the setup/delivery of the General and Organic Chemistry laboratory operations to be carried out throughout the calendar year. These high enrollment courses have more than 1100 students equaling between 50-60 lab sections per semester and another 8-10 in the summer. More specific duties include:
