| Organizational Unit Overview | ECU Libraries is a branch of Academic Affairs and reports through the Provost/ Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. ECU Libraries serves East Carolina University faculty, students, staff and visitors by offering library research and services to support the research, instruction and service goals of the University. ECU Libraries is comprised of Joyner Library on ECU’s main campus, Laupus Library on ECU’s health sciences campus, and the Music Library, located in the Fletcher Music building. |
| Job Duties | The Assistant University Librarian (AUL) for Special Collections is responsible for the development and management of the ECU Libraries Special Collections and related services to students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, researchers, and community members. Areas within Special Collections include Digital Curation, Health Sciences History Collections, Manuscripts, North Carolina Collection, Rare Books, University Archives, and University Records Management. The division has close working relationships with the library’s Preservation/Conservation staff and with Library IT Services. The AUL is a member of the ECU Libraries’ senior management team and helps establish and execute its strategic plan and goals and allocate resources. The AUL must meet the criteria for hiring at either the Associate Library Professor or Library Professor level. The position reports to the University Librarian. Primary responsibilities:
