Job Summary
- The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual labor tasks and other duties as assigned. This is accomplished by working as part of a turf maintenance crew and engaging in routine parks maintenance work.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Examples of Duties
-
- Serves as a crew member for parks and athletic field maintenance work;
- Maintains and repairs park athletic fields through manual labor;
- Performs litter control using a light-duty truck;
- Transports trailers, mowers, and other equipment;
- Loads and unloads supplies and materials;
- Works throughout parks and completes ballfield layouts, mows turf, drags baseball and softball fields, paints fields, and sprays herbicides;
- Uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete landscaping tasks;
- Assists in setting up for events and programs;
- Operates mowers, tractors, and implements to complete athletic field maintenance duties;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; and
- Six months of manual labor experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:- relevant machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance.

Special Requirements

- Valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- This position will occasionally be required to be available for special events and athletic tournaments, as well as being available during inclement weather.
- This position will occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
