Director of Engineering & Product Development — INOX Solar Americas

About INOX Solar Americas

INOX Solar Americas is a U.S. manufacturer of solar PV cells and modules, building a fully domestic supply chain for utility-scale, commercial, community and residential solar. The company is part of the renewable energy platform of Inox Clean Energy and the India-based INOXGFL Group.

In April 2026 the company completed its roughly $750 million acquisition of Boviet Solar's U.S. operations, including a 3 GW module plant in Greenville, North Carolina. A further 3 GW of cell manufacturing capacity at the site is planned for 2027.

Customer demand is moving fast. In September 2026 the company announced two utility-scale supply agreements totaling about 1.57 GW (767 MW and 800 MW) for projects in North Carolina, Texas, Colorado and Georgia, using its Vega Series bifacial modules built on Galaxion N-type cells, with deliveries starting in 2027.

Position Summary

The Director of Engineering & Product Development owns the technical roadmap for INOX Solar Americas' cell and module products, from new product design through certification, factory industrialization and field performance. This leader builds and runs the engineering organization that will take the Greenville site from module assembly to an integrated cell-and-module operation, while keeping every product bankable, certifiable and compliant with U.S. domestic-content and supply-chain rules.

Product strategy and roadmap

  • Own the multi-year product roadmap for the Vega Series modules and Galaxion N-type cells, aligned with utility-scale, C&I, community and residential customer needs.
  • Translate market, customer and policy inputs (domestic content, FEOC/PFE rules, tariffs) into product requirements, bill-of-materials choices and launch plans.
  • Benchmark competing technologies (TOPCon, HJT, back-contact, glass-glass formats) and recommend where INOX should invest.

New product development and introduction

  • Lead new module designs from concept through prototype, qualification and mass-production release, using a stage-gate process with clear cost, efficiency and reliability targets.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturing and cost-down programs across cells, glass, frames, encapsulants, backsheets and junction boxes.
  • Qualify alternate and domestic suppliers for critical materials to strengthen domestic-content value and supply resilience.

Technical Documentation Development

  • Develop PV module and cell datasheets, PAN files, BOM, GA drawings etc
  • Conduct third party lab verification of PAN files and relevant technical documents
  • Benchmark products against competition and industry standard to keep the documents up to date

Domestic Cell Integration

  • Work with the cell manufacturing team to develop technical specifications, testing plan and commercialization of the cells from the company’s US cell plant
  • Integrate cell and module engineering so cell bins, power classes and module designs are optimized together.

Certification, reliability and quality

  • Own product certification to UL 61730, IEC 61215/61730 and related standards, and manage relationships with test labs and independent engineers.
  • Own and lead bankability audits, accelerated-stress and extended reliability testing (e.g., PVEL/RETC-style programs) to support bankability and warranty terms.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for production defects and field returns.

Customer and commercial support

  • Act as the senior technical voice with developers, EPCs, IPPs, lenders and independent engineers during bids, due diligence and contract negotiation.
  • Negotiate technical exhibits in Module supply agreements and ensure the agreed standards are implemented by production and quality team
  • Provide datasheets, energy-yield inputs, installation guidance and warranty positions for large supply agreements.

Compliance and traceability

  • Partner with supply chain and legal to engineer products and documentation that meet domestic-content, FEOC/PFE, UFLPA and traceability requirements.

Team leadership

  • Build, hire and develop a high-performing engineering team, and set engineering standards, tools and documentation practices.
  • Coordinate with INOXGFL Group engineering and R&D teams to share technology and best practices across sites.
  • Own the engineering budget, capital requests and project portfolio.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience in solar PV, semiconductor or high-volume electronics manufacturing, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience bringing PV modules (and ideally cells) from design through certification into mass production.
  • Working knowledge of UL 61730, IEC 61215/61730, and PV reliability testing and failure analysis.
  • Strong grasp of module bill-of-materials trade-offs, cost modeling and design-for-manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to present technical positions to customers, lenders and independent engineers.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and willingness to relocate to the Greenville, NC area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • Experience with N-type cell technologies (TOPCon, HJT or back-contact) and with greenfield cell-line ramps.
  • Familiarity with IRA domestic-content guidance, FEOC/PFE restrictions, UFLPA and supply-chain traceability audits.
  • Track record working with PVEL, RETC, Kiwa or similar labs and with bankability reviews by independent engineers.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or APQP/PPAP experience in a high-volume factory.
  • Experience working across cultures and time zones, particularly with India- or Asia-based engineering teams.
