Sales Manager – Utility-Scale Solar PV Modules

Location: Remote, United States
Department: Sales
Reports To: Sales Manager
Industry: Solar Energy / Renewable Energy

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sales Manager to join our growing sales organization. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with utility-scale solar project developers, independent power producers (IPPs), and electric utility companies throughout the United States.

This is a relationship-driven, full-cycle sales position. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, cultivating long-term customer relationships, supporting commercial negotiations and contract execution, and maintaining consistent communication with customers throughout the order fulfillment and module delivery process.

The position does not have a defined geographic sales territory. Instead, the Sales Manager will be responsible for developing opportunities across the U.S. utility-scale solar market based on company priorities, customer relationships, project opportunities, and market conditions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to manage complex sales opportunities that may develop over many months or years.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with utility-scale solar project developers, IPPs, utilities, EPC contractors, and other strategic customers.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers, including procurement, development, engineering, construction, finance, and executive personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of utility-scale solar projects and prospective customers.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, proposals, pricing information, and other sales materials.
  • Negotiate commercial terms within established company guidelines and obtain appropriate internal approvals.
  • Provide regular updates regarding pipeline activity, project status, forecasts, customer developments, and potential risks.

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Develop a working knowledge of PV module supply agreements, purchase agreements, framework agreements, and other commercial contracts used in the utility-scale solar industry.
  • Understand key commercial provisions affecting module sales, including pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, product specifications, warranties, liquidated damages, performance requirements, change orders, and other customer obligations.
  • Work closely with legal, finance, operations, supply chain, and senior management during contract negotiations and execution.

Order & Customer Management

  • Serve as a primary commercial point of contact for customers throughout the order fulfillment process, which may extend over several months.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding production schedules, shipping, delivery timing, documentation, and other project requirements.
  • Coordinate with operations, production, logistics, quality, and supply-chain teams to address customer questions and resolve issues.
  • Ensure that customer expectations are aligned with the company's capabilities and contractual commitments.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, finance, economics, renewable energy, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex commercial and contractual concepts.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically for customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and other business activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

Preferred

  • Experience selling PV modules or other utility-scale solar equipment.
  • Experience negotiating or administering supply agreements or similar long-term supply contracts.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar project development, procurement, construction, and project financing.
  • Knowledge of U.S. PV module manufacturing and domestic-content requirements.
  • Understanding of U.S. solar trade policies, tariffs, and supply-chain considerations.
  • Existing relationships with utility-scale solar developers, IPPs, utilities, or EPC companies.
  • Experience managing customer orders from contract execution through production, shipment, and delivery.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position within the United States. The Sales Manager will work independently while maintaining frequent communication with the sales organization and cross-functional teams.

Domestic travel will be required periodically for customer meetings, project meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and other business-development activities.

Compensation

The company offers a competitive compensation package consisting of base salary and performance-based sales incentives, along with benefits appropriate to the position and experience level.
