SUMMARY
The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will lead all payroll and benefits operations for the company's new Greenville, North Carolina facility, using ADP Workforce Now to process pay accurately and on time and to administer employee benefits. The ideal candidate has strong working knowledge of federal and North Carolina wage-and-hour, tax, and labor laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration
- Process full-cycle, multi-frequency payroll (hourly and salaried) accurately and on time using ADP Workforce Now, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, tax elections, and direct deposit.
- Calculate and audit regular pay, overtime, shift differentials, and incentive/piece-rate pay in compliance with the FLSA and NC wage-and-hour law; process garnishments and other deductions.
- Reconcile payroll registers each cycle; prepare and submit federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, including quarter- and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s).
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and maintain accurate, audit-ready payroll records.
Benefits Administration
- Administer all employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)); manage new-hire enrollment, open enrollment, and qualifying life events in ADP.
- Serve as primary contact for employee benefits questions; liaise with brokers/carriers and reconcile monthly benefits invoices.
- Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, disability, workers' compensation) and ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
Compliance & General
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and NC payroll, tax, and labor laws; support internal/external audits.
- Recommend process improvements within ADP Workforce Now as the Greenville site grows; maintain strict confidentiality; complete other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of progressive payroll and benefits administration experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred; other ADP payroll platforms (Vantage, TotalSource, Run) also considered.
- Strong, current knowledge of federal and North Carolina payroll and labor laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and NC wage payment regulations.
- Strong Excel skills; high attention to detail and analytical ability when working with sensitive payroll/benefits data.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation a plus.
